The Influx of International Notes: Climate Crisis, Energy Transition, and Artificial Intelligence

May 24, 2024

After a period of intense focus, I reconnect with my network, a constant source of information. What strikes me is the relentless influx of notes from international sources, all centered around the urgent and pressing issues of the climate crisis and the energy transition. These two issues are not just interconnected; they are inextricably linked, and it's alarming how many have yet to fully comprehend the gravity of this situation.

Another significant topic that has been dominating my inbox is Artificial Intelligence. Today, I received a note from UNESCO on this very subject. As I grapple with the sheer volume of information, I'm reminded of November 2022, when I first alerted Mariano to the immense potential of ChatGPT. Just a few weeks later, we were already conducting our first local AI radio talk show, a testament to the inspiring possibilities of this technology.

This deluge of information mirrors the world around me: extreme weather, solar energy advancements, and the increasing use of AI. Notes on poverty and inequality are sure to follow. But here's the stark reality: We are inundated with information, yet there is a glaring lack of action, a void that each of us needs to take responsibility to fill.

A year ago, during the CCCP conference, I made three proposals: plant a tree, collect rainwater, and install a solar panel. Nearly a year later, we seem to have forgotten all about them. But I urge you, don't give up.
