The Giver

The Giver is de titel van een film uit 2014. Het gaat in essentie om een voorstelling van de toekomst. Het gaat om een gesloten harmonieuze samenleving waarin alles is geregeld van geboorte tot en met sterfte. Kinderen die met een gebrek ter leven komen worden te slapen gelegd en ouderen die gaan op een bepaalde leeftijd op reis. Kinderen worden op basis van talenten geschoold en ontwikkeld en worden daarna ingezet in de samenleving. Het is een zeer rationele samenleving, zonder plaats voor emoties. Uiteindelijk is herontdekking van emoties ook het einde van deze utopie. Maar de vraag blijft of onze complexe
