I don’t need to mention the name, because everyone knows what the “E” stands for. And honestly, it only interests me to a limited extent — at least on a general level. But just like the Didi case, you can’t avoid it, because every day more of it is being served to you.

A picture is forming: that everyone who is, or once was, at the top — in finance, politics and entertainment — lived and still lives in a parallel universe. A world in which people seem to believe that different laws apply.

It makes me think that power, money and fame are not necessarily a blessing. My father — and also Mrs. O — always say that it takes strong legs to carry wealth.

I wonder whether we also have a Curaçaoan version of the E-files. Especially when you hear the rumors that keep forcing themselves upon us.

What is the moral of the story? I don’t know. Do we need a moral wake-up call?
