The Blue Wave has swept up the entire island: the success of the national football team qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. The Caribbean Sea is turbulent and far beyond. A few days ago, the Americans were said to have intercepted a Russian ship on its way to Venezuela. The airspace above Venezuela and the surrounding region is empty. In the Netherlands, drones have been spotted near locations where American nuclear warheads are stored. Later, it turns out that drones have been observed in several other European countries as well.

Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, another campaign has been launched to raise awareness of the importance of having an emergency kit at home. Here in Curaçao, the war was discussed once again behind closed doors. But although reports from the Netherlands state that the islands also need an emergency kit, there is no campaign here whatsoever. It is like so many things — hurricane warnings, for example. We hear about them, but we go about our daily lives.

As for me, I will put together a kit anyway, keep some extra cash on hand, and enjoy December in the parallel universe.
