It’s easy to see how everything is connected when it comes to electricity and communication. Add money and banking, and the connections must be just as precise. Yet money is often used in strange, destructive ways. Without it, communication becomes hostile—or cut off.

But there is something far more fundamental: work. By working—by being useful, creating, producing, contributing, helping—humans connect. Work is how we become fully human and how we build society. Unemployment is devastating not primarily because it takes away income, but because it serves this essential connection, leaving people isolated and society weaker.

This is also why Universal Basic Income (UBI) is not a complete solution. Simply providing income does not give purpose or engagement. Of course, there are meaningless “bullshit” jobs, and we can do without them. However, society must create meaningful work for all people. Through work, humans find purpose, fulfillment, and connection.

Our world has become so complex that many people fail to recognize this until it affects them personally. Yet the truth is clear: meaningful work doesn’t just provide money—it connects us to purpose, and to the life we are meant to lead.

Work connects. Without it, we are lost.
