All stories continue to unfold. Trump has now boarded a third oil tanker. Russia and China have announced that they will support Maduro should Trump decide to attack. The government stresses that there is no immediate danger, yet simultaneously launches a campaign encouraging people to assemble emergency kits. A good idea. One wonders why this was not done at the start of the hurricane season.

Locally, discussions continue regarding the agreement on the indexation of the AOV. There is also debate about hotel construction—or rather, the halt to it. Meanwhile, the figures continue to show growth in tourism.

The minimum wage has increased by 22 cents.

And the story surrounding the refinery continues.

In the meantime, people are busy preparing for Christmas. Year-end reviews of 2025 and awards follow one another in quick succession. What strikes me most is that many people will not live to see this Christmas. I wish their loved ones much strength.

It appears that decisions are no longer being made. Yet real reflection has not (yet) begun. Carnival 2026 is just around the corner, and 2026 will be marked by the historic participation of the Curaçao Blue Wave in the World Cup.
